SOCIAL DOWNTIME
Mild redness and swelling may occur for up to 24 hours
Pre-treatment Instructions:
- Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks (including self-tanners, tanning bed, and spray tans) – always use a minimum of SPF 50, and reapply every 2 hours.
- Avoid topical and oral antibiotics, steroids, retinoids (Retin- A), hydroquinone, benzoyl peroxide, alpha or beta hydroxyl acids (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.), and exfoliates for a minimum of 3 days prior to procedure.
- Discontinue use of Accutane for 6 months.
- No laser or skin treatment procedures 2-4 weeks prior.
- No waxing, depilatory creams, tweezing, threading, or electrolysis 4 weeks prior.
- No active cold sores. If you are prone to cold sores it is recommended to take a prophylactic. (Valtrex) 1 day prior and up to 3 days following treatment.
- Exfoliate the area 5-7 days prior to treatment.
- Please shave the entire area to be treated the night before treatment with a clean razor. If the area is not shaved prior, we cannot treat the area.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Please shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment. Do not wax or pluck, as the laser targets the hair follicle.
- Before your first appointment, you and your Skin expert will assess your skin and hair type and discuss your hair removal goals.
- We’ll take a photo (which will remain private) to help track your skin journey at Vitality Vision Med Spa.
- After a cleanse, your Skin expert will apply a cool, water-based gel and begin the Laser treatment.
AFTERCARE
- Normal reactions include mild redness, swelling or a mild sunburn-like sensation on the treatment area for up to 24 hours.
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 4 weeks and use a 30+ SPF on the treatment area.
- Avoid exercise, hot tubs, hot showers and saunas for 24-48 hours.
- Hair on the treatment may shed over the next 3 weeks as a natural part of the healing process. You may also experience stubble on the treatment area as part of the shedding process.
- Avoid topical and oral antibiotics, retinoids, hydroquinone, and benzoyl peroxide, alpha or beta hydroxyl acids (glycolic acid, salicylic acid, etc.), and exfoliate for a minimum of 2 days prior to procedure.
- Application of makeup is permissible after heat and redness have subsided.
- Do not pick, or scratch area.
- Keep skin hydrated (Hyaluronic Acid is strongly recommended)
- Follow proper home care instructions customized by your technician.
